A tragic incident claimed the life of a French soldier in southern Lebanon. President Emmanuel Macron revealed on Saturday that evidence suggests the Iran-backed group Hezbollah was responsible for the attack.
Meanwhile, three other soldiers sustained injuries and have been evacuated for treatment, according to Macron's statement on X. He emphasized the need for the Lebanese government to address the alleged perpetrators.
The fallen soldier and his injured comrades were part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), tasked with maintaining peace in the region's south.
