In a significant security operation, four Maoists lost their lives in an encounter with security forces on Friday in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, according to police sources.

The gunfight erupted in the Batuka forest area, under Keredari police station jurisdiction, after authorities received a critical tip-off. One of those killed was identified as Sahdeo Mahto, notable for a Rs 15 lakh bounty on his head.

Despite the intensity of the exchange, led by the Maoist squad under Misir Besra earlier in April, security personnel reported no casualties. The development follows the recent government declaration that no region in India remains affected by Naxal violence, marking a pivotal moment since the inception of Left Wing Extremism over five decades ago.
