In a spirited discussion in the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Hema Malini emphatically endorsed the women's quota bill, portraying it as a groundbreaking move towards ensuring women's equality and empowerment. The bill aims to increase women's representation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies to 33%, a significant rise from the existing quotas.
Hema Malini, also a well-known actor, highlighted the importance of societal change alongside legislative amendments to achieve true respect for women. She emphasized that the bill does not discriminate on the basis of caste or religion and aims to uplift women's status within the family and society.
Introduced as the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, this legislation signifies a monumental step in strengthening women's voices in governance. Alongside, the Lok Sabha also saw the introduction of the Delimitation Bill and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill to implement the changes in Delhi, Puducherry, and Jammu and Kashmir.
