Karnataka Advances Menstrual Leave Policy Amid Court's Directive

Karnataka's Labour Minister, Santosh Lad, has affirmed the government's commitment to swiftly enforce the paid menstrual leave policy across all sectors, as directed by the Karnataka High Court. The move follows the court's call for 'strict and faithful' policy implementation.

Lad, in a recent social media post, expressed support for the court's directive, stating that the state is poised to act as a model for similar policies nationwide. The measure reflects a commitment to women's dignity and recognizes the reality of their experiences.

The High Court's directive emerged from a petition by Chandravva Hanumant Gokavi, seeking the enactment of the November 20, 2025 order. It mandates the government to ensure the policy's effective operationalization through guidelines and administrative instructions.
