Todd Lyons, the acting director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is set to resign by the end of May. This announcement was made by federal officials on Thursday.
Markwayne Mullin, Homeland Security Secretary, commended Lyons for his leadership role in ICE, attributing him as key to enhancing community safety in America and wishing him success in his future private sector endeavors.
Under Lyons, ICE experienced substantial growth in resources and expanded its enforcement operations, although public opinion remained largely unfavorable, particularly after controversial enforcement actions in major cities.
