An assistant sub-inspector in Punjab's Faridkot was suspended after a video showed her tying up her five-year-old granddaughter in scorching heat, officials reported on Wednesday.
The video, captured by neighbors, shows the child crying, bound to a gate, prompting action from the local police force when it went viral. Neighbors rescued the girl, whose parents are currently residing in Portugal, leaving her under her grandmother's care.
Following the dissemination of the video, Faridkot Senior Superintendent of Police, Pragya Jain, suspended ASI Sarabjit Kaur. The incident has been referred to the child welfare committee for further investigation, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tarlochan Singh.
