The Delhi High Court has instructed city police to remove unauthorized social media recordings of court proceedings concerning AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal's liquor policy plea. This follows a complaint by Advocate Vaibhav Singh seeking action against Kejriwal and other political figures who distributed these clips.
The plea, presented before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma on Monday, was part of an appeal against a lower court decision discharging Kejriwal and others in the excise policy case. Vaibhav Singh reported that the legal regulations prohibit sharing recordings of judicial proceedings and claimed that the politicians' actions were intended to 'create pressure on the judge'.
Despite requests for urgent court listings, Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya deemed no urgent need, indicating the court's acknowledgment of the issue. The complaints allege that the circulation aims to mislead the public and tarnish the judiciary's image, highlighting a potential 'conspiracy' by AAP leadership to harm the institution's reputation.
