The Jammu police have intensified their crackdown on narcotics under the ambitious 100-day 'Nasha Mukt Abhiyan'. Spearheaded by Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, the initiative aims to hold police officers accountable while addressing the rampant drug problem, identified as a conspiracy by an enemy country.
The SSP highlighted the alarming rate of drug peddling, particularly concerning 'chitta' or adulterated heroin. Eight to ten new individuals reportedly enter the world of drug peddling every minute. Launched by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on March 11, the anti-drug campaign is firmly enforced, with a focus on public awareness and rehabilitation efforts.
Brutal measures like seizing properties linked to drug activities underscore the zero-tolerance stance. Singh insists that only one, either a drug peddler or the SHO, can exist in a police area, urging public support for the campaign to dismantle the drug network and aid rehabilitation for affected individuals.
