Madras High Court Scrutinizes Deputy CM's Election Affidavit Discrepancies

The Madras High Court has called for a detailed report from the Income Tax Department concerning alleged inconsistencies in the election affidavits of Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin.
The plea was lodged by R Kumaravel of Chennai, who pointed out the stark differences between Stalin’s 2021 and 2026 poll affidavits, highlighting the disappearance of investments exceeding Rs 7 crore.
The court has urged a joint investigation by the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, setting the next hearing for April 20, ahead of the April 23 assembly elections.
