In a bold display of opposition, DMK's Udhayanidhi Stalin led a protest rally against the BJP's proposed delimitation exercise, which he claims aims to reduce Tamil Nadu's seats in Parliament. Clad in black as a sign of dissent, Stalin rallied the public to oppose the legislation.
The delimitation bill, presented as part of the Constitution (131st Amendment), allegedly threatens to lower the representation from 59 to 47 Lok Sabha seats, sparking accusations of political maneuvering by the Centre to divert attention during Tamil Nadu's election period.
Udhayanidhi called on families across the state to rise in protest, stressing that Tamil Nadu will not quietly accept any reduction in their rights and representation. His campaign drew widespread support, symbolized by the widespread adoption of black attire among DMK candidates.
