Tony Balfour Appointed Chair of New Zealand Lotteries Commission

The New Zealand Government has announced the appointment of seasoned business leader Tony Balfour as the new Chair of the New Zealand Lotteries Commission Board, marking a significant leadership transition for one of the country's key community funding institutions.

Internal Affairs Minister Brooke van Velden confirmed that Balfour will assume the role on 1 May 2026, following the retirement of outgoing Chair Mark Todd, who steps down on 30 April after seven years of service, including leading the Board since 2024.
