In a significant breakthrough, Avtar Singh, who evaded arrest for nearly half a decade, has been captured by the Jammu and Kashmir police in Kishtwar district.
Authorities revealed that Singh, a resident of Thakrai village, was wanted in connection with a 2021 FIR for allegedly raping a minor. Charges were filed under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Acting on precise information, officers conducted a meticulously planned raid in Himachal Pradesh, leading to Singh's arrest. Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, has issued a stern warning to other absconders, urging them to surrender as stringent legal action awaits those who resist capture.
