Regional tensions in the Gulf have caused a delay in the repatriation of the bodies of 48 Nepalese citizens, as per an announcement by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Chhetri. Flights inconsistencies have kept the bodies in cities like Riyadh, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, and more.
The Nepalese government is actively engaged in efforts to bring the deceased home. This move follows a recent instance where nine bodies were brought back from Kuwait through a chartered flight. The process is ongoing, but disruptions have added complexity to the logistical operations.
Meanwhile, the conflict in West Asia has resulted in one Nepalese death and 21 injuries. Furthermore, over 86,000 citizens have registered with the foreign ministry’s consular section to return home, indicating the scale of the crisis.
