The legislation is seen as a major step towards enhancing the 'ease of living' and 'ease of doing business' by amending 784 provisions across 79 central laws. The goal is to decriminalise and rationalise minor offences, thus improving the business environment and reducing public harassment.
Sawant extended congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, recognizing this as a landmark reform. He emphasized the legislation's role in reducing outdated requirements, minimising government intervention, and fostering maximum governance, with provisions for faster case resolutions and stakeholder-inclusive policymaking.
