Historic Expansion: Lok Sabha Seats Set to Increase

In a pivotal move to implement the women's reservation law, the Indian Parliament is scheduled to reconvene on April 16 after a brief recess. The session aims to pass significant legislation increasing the Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816.

This expansion is deemed crucial for enabling long-awaited women's reservation representation across the nation. It is expected that both parliamentary houses will meet for either two or three days to deliberate on these landmark bills, officials confirmed.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized the legislative importance in the Rajya Sabha, noting that discussions with the opposition have already taken place. "We are going to have a very important bill in the next two-three weeks," Rijiju remarked, hinting at cooperative dialogue surrounding the significant decisions ahead.
