BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj vociferously criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday over the gherao incident involving seven judicial officers in West Bengal's Malda district. She emphasized that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls should not be politicized as it is a constitutional necessity.

During the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha, Swaraj stated that democracy was severely undermined when TMC members reportedly confined judicial officers, particularly women, for hours. The Supreme Court has taken note, indicating a complete law and order breakdown in the state.

Swaraj called for a clear and firm message from Parliament and urged the central government to address what she termed as 'anarchy' in West Bengal. Following the Supreme Court's harsh critique of the state administration, an independent investigation by the CBI or NIA was ordered to probe the circumstances surrounding the event.
