Recent statistics reveal a disturbing trend concerning the conditions of Indian workers abroad, with reports showing that over 20 individuals have died each day over the past five years, mainly in Gulf nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs disclosed that the total number of deaths reached 37,740 between 2021 and 2025, with the highest number occurring in 2021. The UAE and Saudi Arabia recorded the most fatalities.
In addition to fatalities, the number of complaints related to abuse, exploitation, and workplace grievances surged, prompting diplomatic measures to ensure the safety of Indian expatriates.
