Om Birla's Stance on House Decorum

On Thursday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued a stern warning to Union ministers and MPs regarding prolonged conversations while the House was in session. Emphasizing decorum, Birla observed that some members and ministers were engaging in discussions lasting up to half an hour, which he deemed inappropriate during proceedings.

The Speaker clarified that while short, essential conversations were permissible, extensive chats violated the conduct standards expected in the House. 'I will name you in the future,' Birla remarked, underlining the significance of upholding the House's dignity and enforcing discipline among its members.

During the Question Hour earlier, Birla also cautioned Independent MP Pappu Yadav for talking to a fellow member with his back turned to the Chair, advising senior MPs to exemplify proper behavior. Such reprimands aim to ensure that parliamentary proceedings are treated with the seriousness they deserve.
