The move is part of Moscow's strategy to strengthen its ranks during the fifth year of war without initiating a broader conscription, despite claims from Ukraine about significant Russian troop losses. Over 80,000 individuals have enlisted this year, according to Dmitry Medvedev.
Universities are participating in this drive by promising academic leave, financial compensation, and other benefits. A new recruitment campaign targets students with expertise in technical fields, underscoring their vital role in drone operations. Local government efforts in Ryazan also aim to fulfill these recruitment quotas.
