In a deeply shocking case that has sent ripples through the community, police have taken into custody a mother and two others for the sacrificial murder of a teenage girl in Kusumbha village. The incident, linked to a purported occult ritual, has raised serious societal questions.
The arrests were announced at a late-night press conference by Hazaribag Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan, alongside Hazaribag DIG Anjani Jha. The accused include Reshmi Devi, the girl's mother, Shanti Devi, an occult practitioner, and Bhim Ram, all from the same village where the alleged murder took place.
Law enforcement officers detailed that the victim was sacrificed on March 24 to rid her brother of ailments. The case has escalated, with the Jharkhand High Court taking suo motu cognisance, and political entities, like the BJP, staging protests, demanding justice and swift action from the state administration.
