A disturbing incident has surfaced in the Beed district of Maharashtra, where a 13-year-old boy allegedly sexually assaulted a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, police confirmed on Wednesday. This marks the second such incident involving minors within a week in the area.

The crime reportedly occurred on Tuesday at around 5:30 PM when the toddler ventured into an open field near her home. The accused, hailing from the same village, allegedly carried out the assault. Upon learning about the tragic incident, the girl's mother lodged a complaint at the Bardapur Police Station the following day.

Police have since registered the case under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Assistant Police Inspector D.S. Kamble is spearheading the investigation. In a similar case earlier in the week, a 15-year-old boy in the district's Ambajogai Rural precinct was found responsible for the sexual assault of his two-year-old relative, revealed after the victim's death.
