Telecom Services in YSR Kadapa Meet QoS Standards, Data Speeds Exceed Declared Levels: Govt

Telecom services in YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh are performing well within prescribed standards, with call quality meeting benchmarks and mobile data speeds exceeding declared levels, Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia informed the Lok Sabha.

Strong QoS Performance Across Operators

In a written reply, the Minister stated that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has established stringent Quality of Service (QoS) benchmarks, which telecom operators are required to meet.

Key findings from a TRAI Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted in February 2026 in YSR Kadapa include:

• Call drop rates for all telecom service providers were within prescribed limits

• Call setup success rate met the benchmark of 98% for most operators

• Mobile data speeds exceeded the typical speeds declared in tariff plans

These results indicate reliable network performance and improved user experience in the district.

Expanding Telecom Infrastructure

The Minister also provided detailed data on telecom infrastructure deployment in YSR Kadapa:

• Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited: 2,559 radio access nodes

• Bharti Airtel Limited: 1,488 nodes

• Vodafone Idea Limited: 563 nodes

• Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL): 449 nodes

These nodes support multiple technologies including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, reflecting a robust and multi-layered network presence in the region.

Stricter Monitoring and Compliance

TRAI has recently tightened QoS benchmarks and requires operators to:

• Transparently declare typical download and upload speeds in tariff plans

• Maintain service quality across parameters such as call connectivity and data performance

The regulator also:

• Publishes monthly performance reports

• Seeks explanations for any non-compliance

• Imposes financial disincentives where necessary

Nationwide Compliance Trends

According to TRAI reports for January and February 2026, all telecom service providers have:

• Met network-related QoS benchmarks

• Maintained compliance across all licensed service areas, including Andhra Pradesh

The improved telecom performance in districts like YSR Kadapa is expected to:

• Enhance digital connectivity in semi-urban and rural areas

• Support digital services, e-governance, and online education
