The U.S. government has decreased its travel advisory level for Nepal, highlighting an improved security landscape within the country. Previously set at Level 3, the advisory has now been lowered to Level 2, reflecting increased stability after the cessation of nationwide protests.
The adjustment comes in light of the new governmental leadership under Balendra Shah, credited with creating a more stable environment. However, the advisory maintains that travelers should exercise caution as localized unrest may still arise, particularly in urban areas.
U.S. citizens are specifically encouraged to avoid large gatherings and adhere to the guidance of local authorities while visiting Nepal, despite the overall calm following last year's Gen Z-led protests.
