Delhi Court Acquits Woman in Forged Passport Case

In a significant ruling, a Delhi court has acquitted Mithila Murada, accused of using forged documents to apply for her son's passport. The court determined that the allegations lacked essential elements required for the charges, and raised concerns about using criminal proceedings to settle matrimonial disputes.

Judge Bhupinder Singh, presiding over the revision application, dismissed charges of cheating and forgery against Murada after examining the evidence presented by the prosecution. The charges were initially framed due to discrepancies in the name used on a birth certificate when applying for the passport.

The court highlighted the absence of wrongful gain, evidence of forgery, or intent to deceive, leading to the dismissal of charges. It cautioned against using legal proceedings as tools for harassment, especially amidst matrimonial discord.
