A civil engineer named Irfan, aged 34, was arrested in Mandya Pradesh for allegedly orchestrating an illegal arms supply chain, police disclosed on Wednesday.
Authorities seized several firearms from Irfan, including three country-made pistols, revolver parts, and two live rounds. The investigation revealed his involvement in a gun supply racket parallel to his engineering career.
The case initiated on February 25 under the Arms Act with arrests in Bengaluru, leading to Irfan's capture in Bhopal on March 12. Police interrogation confirmed his illegal operations, prompting further efforts to trace additional network participants.
