Border Tensions: Bombings Spark Debate Between Colombia and Ecuador
Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro and Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa engaged in a verbal exchange about bombings on the border shared by the two nations. Petro denied Colombian involvement, whereas Noboa affirmed actions against narco-terrorism within Ecuador. Discrepancies remain unresolved amidst international anti-drug cooperation efforts.
In a heated exchange, Colombia's President Gustavo Petro and Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa have publicly disagreed over recent bombings near their shared border. President Petro, responding on social media platform X, asserted that the bombings were not executed by Colombian forces.
Meanwhile, President Noboa of Ecuador stated that his country was taking action against drug traffickers and maintained that their operations were confined within Ecuadorian territory. Noboa further emphasized that targeted locations were known to be hideouts for narco-terrorism groups.
Ongoing military operations in Ecuador, initiated against criminal gangs on Sunday night, have not been publicly updated. The Ecuadorean government has highlighted its collaboration with international allies, including the United States, in its anti-drug efforts. Communication with Ecuador about the charred bodies remains pending.
