A Parliamentary panel has urged the Statistics Ministry to ensure the efficient use of allocated funds, recommending it seek additional demands when necessary. Highlighting the insufficiency of current budget allocations, the committee noted strategic risks to key schemes due to reduced funding.
The panel's report highlights the strained allocation of Rs 4,522.25 crore against a needed Rs 5,826.11 crore for the Ministry, impacting initiatives such as IT infrastructure and manpower mobilisation. Insufficient funding could hinder data granularity and digital transformation efforts.
The committee suggested the Ministry consider developing a comprehensive digital dashboard to consolidate sectoral data, alongside improving the digital portal for real-time project tracking. Emphasizing data's role in policy development, it recommended strategies for better project monitoring and data integration.
