Election Commission Reshuffles Key Police Personnel Ahead of West Bengal Polls
The Election Commission has transferred 19 senior police officers, including ADGs for North and South Bengal, ahead of the assembly elections. Rajesh Kumar Singh and K Jayaraman have been appointed as new ADGs. Additionally, police leadership in several districts has been changed, with elections slated for April and counting on May 4.

In a strategic move before the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections, the Election Commission ordered a major reshuffle of 19 senior police officers on Tuesday.
Among the changes, IPS officer Rajesh Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new Additional Director General (ADG) of South Bengal, while the position of ADG for North Bengal has been assigned to K Jayaraman. Both officers belong to the 1997 batch, as per the commission's statement.
Further appointments include new commissioners of police for Asansol-Durgapur, Howrah, Barrackpore, and Chandannagar, alongside changes in superintendents across 12 districts. The elections to the 294-member state assembly are scheduled for April 23 and 29, with vote counting set for May 4.
