Kashmir Shuts Down Amid Protests Against US-Israel Strikes on Iran

Protests erupted on Friday in Shia-majority regions of Kashmir, including Magam and Budgam, condemning US-Israel strikes on Iran, according to officials.

To preempt unrest on Juma-tul-Vida, authorities imposed restrictions in Srinagar and surrounding areas, particularly those predominantly inhabited by Shia communities, as a preventive step to uphold law and order, officials reported.

Protesters vocalized opposition to US and Israeli aggression in Iran and expressed solidarity with Palestine. Despite tensions, the protests remained peaceful, officials assured, while closely monitoring the situation. The historic Jamia Masjid's closure further fueled emotions among the faithful, with regional leaders drawing parallels to the situation around Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem.
