Daring Rescue Operation Frees Tangkhul Naga Hostages in Manipur

In a significant rescue operation, Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam confirmed that 21 Tangkhul Naga civilians held by armed men in Ukhrul district have been freed. The Union home ministry facilitated the operation, resulting in a peaceful resolution after intense negotiations.

The tension escalated following the abduction of two Kuki men, leading to the capture of the Tangkhul Nagas. Initial intervention by the Border Security Force was hampered, but the army efficiently managed the later stages, ensuring the hostages' safe release.

Minister Konthoujam highlighted the need for peace and dialogue, urging communities to transcend individual identities for a unified Manipuri identity.
