Escalating Tensions: Drone Strikes and Diplomatic Fallout in Iraq

A major U.S. diplomatic site in Iraq was hit by a drone on Tuesday amidst the ongoing U.S.-Israeli air campaign against Iran. According to officials, the attack caused no injuries, and all personnel were accounted for. The Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center, located near Baghdad airport, bore the brunt of the strike.

The incident happened as the White House and State Department withheld immediate comments. It was later reported that six drones were launched towards the compound, with five neutralized. The attack is attributed to the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iran-backed coalition, sparking sharp condemnation from Iraqi authorities.

The conflict intensified when the U.S. and Israel conducted their most forceful airstrikes against Iran, responding to what they label as imminent Iranian threats. Iran, which denies nuclear weapon ambitions, has retaliated, impacting global economic stability by threatening to block Gulf oil shipments.
