Two suspects wanted for the murder of a businessman in outer-north Delhi's Bawana were apprehended following a brief shootout with police in Rohini, officials stated on Tuesday. The incident unfolded in Sector 34, Rohini, where police, acting on specific intelligence about the suspects' movements, intercepted the duo.

The suspects, identified as Mohammad Irfan and Aishwarya Pandey, had evaded law enforcement for nearly a month following the fatal shooting of a trader in Bawana. Irfan has a staggering 40 criminal charges, with 32 in Delhi and eight in Uttar Pradesh, while Pandey has five charges, including four in Uttar Pradesh and one in Delhi.

The confrontation with police involved an exchange of 11 rounds, during which a bullet struck the bulletproof vest of Deputy Commissioner Hareshwar Swami. Both suspects were injured in their legs and subsequently subdued by police. A pistol, several cartridges, and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from the scene. Five others connected to the case were arrested previously.
