In a tragic incident, two individuals lost their lives following a collision between their scooter and a bus in Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi district on Sunday evening. The accident occurred near Umran Dairy while they were attempting to overtake the bus, police revealed.
The victims, identified as Eliphast Umbah of Umdohkha and Ribansuk Syngkli of Bhoirymbong, were returning from the Presbyterian Synod in Diwon. Umbah died on the spot, whereas Syngkli succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the Umsning Community Health Centre.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident. This unfortunate incident underscores the critical importance of road safety measures in the region.
