A property dispute between brothers in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli district escalated into a murder, local police reported. Vivek Singh, 30, allegedly shot his 27-year-old brother, Vishal Singh, leading to Vishal's death. The tragic incident happened in Jamalpur village's Kandwa area.
According to Superintendent of Police Aditya Langhe, the accused, Vivek, had confessed during questioning that ongoing financial issues strained their relationship. Both brothers had sold a piece of property four months ago for Rs 75 lakh. Vivek had spent his share and frequently asked Vishal for money, resulting in humiliation.
On March 5, during Holi festivities, tensions peaked as Vivek was insulted by Vishal. The following day, Vivek shot Vishal at a farmhouse. After the crime, Vivek attempted to destroy evidence by discarding the CCTV system's DVR, which was later recovered. Police have since registered a case and made an arrest.
