Union Home Minister Launches Second Phase of Vibrant Villages Programme

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to launch the second phase of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) on Friday. This phase will cover 1,954 border villages across 15 states and two Union Territories, according to officials.
With a centrally-funded budget of Rs 6,839 crore, the initiative is designed to ensure the comprehensive and sustainable development of border villages through improved infrastructure and services. This aligns with the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat @2047' and aims to foster secure and prosperous border communities.
Sanctioned on February 15, 2023, the programme's first phase covered 662 villages. The VVP seeks to bolster local economies and security by empowering residents to act as vigilant citizens against cross-border crimes.
