Mizoram's Bold Moves: A Clampdown on Narcotics and Smuggling

Mizoram has reported notable success in its fight against cross-border smuggling and narcotics trafficking, with a total drug seizure valued at Rs 1,047 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26. State officials highlighted the peace achieved through proactive policing and systematic surveillance.

The collaboration between state police and Central forces like Assam Rifles and BSF has been instrumental in securing inter-state and international boundaries. This cooperation has resulted in significant seizures, including other contrabands like arms and fake currency, leading to numerous arrests.

The state government continues to address the challenge of drug trafficking and substance abuse rigorously. Law enforcement capacities have been enhanced with new institutional measures, further strengthened by the state's active participation with forensic sciences institutions.
