A slew of bomb threat emails sent to several schools in Mohali prompted a heightened state of alert and a police search operation on Tuesday, officials reported. The threatening emails also mentioned Fortis Hospital, inciting additional security measures and anti-sabotage checks at the facility, which continued essential services while pausing others.
A senior police officer stated that checks were underway at the mentioned schools. Security around Fortis Hospital had been previously increased due to the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was admitted for exhaustion-related issues after Monday's discharge.
The situation escalated on Wednesday when sixteen private institutions received further bomb threats, leading to evacuations and comprehensive searches. Fortunately, police verified that no suspicious items or explosives were found. The latest scare mirrored recent bomb threat hoaxes in schools across Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, and Haryana.
