Alleged Child Theft Leads to Vigilante Justice Across Jharkhand Villages

In a series of alarming incidents across Jharkhand, villagers have taken matters into their own hands over unsubstantiated fears of child theft. The police confirmed that individuals were assaulted and held hostage in multiple districts under suspicion of being child abductors.

In East Singhbhum district, two snake charmers from West Bengal were held and beaten by villagers during a local event, while a honey seller in Ghatshila's Dumuria area faced a similar ordeal. The victims were later rescued and advised to avoid the villages due to prevailing tensions.

Another unnerving incident involved residents of Piparwar and Chatra districts who critically injured a man under suspicion, while in Bokaro, a mentally challenged woman was wrongfully detained by villagers. Police are working to quell rumors, holding awareness meetings with village leaders to prevent further vigilante actions.
