BJP MLA B A Basavaraj, widely known as Byrathi Basavaraj, was recently placed in CID custody for a week in relation to a murder case. This followed a court session where he was presented before a magistrate at the judge's residence.
The ruling occurred after medical professionals at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research confirmed Basavaraj's stable health condition, police reports indicated. Basavaraj, listed as an accused in the July 15 murder of realtor Shivaprakash, was arrested upon arrival in Bengaluru after the Supreme Court declined to hear his plea against a High Court order.
The arrest followed medical assessments that raised concerns regarding his cardiac health, prompting a referral for expert evaluation. Meanwhile, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra and party leaders demonstrated support by visiting Basavaraj's family amid these developments.
