A 55-year-old farmer was found dead in his field in Poore Ghisai village, allegedly hacked to death with a sharp-edged weapon, according to Mohanganj police. The incident occurred while Shivkumar spent the night guarding his crops from Nilgai and other stray animals.
Witnesses reported Shivkumar left for his field around 8 p.m. on Saturday, intending to protect his harvest overnight. However, concerningly, responding villagers discovered him unresponsive in a pool of blood the following morning.
Mohanganj Station House Officer Rakesh Singh confirmed the brutal attack, explaining that Shivkumar succumbed to injuries from an axe. Authorities have sent his remains for post-mortem examination and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
