Secret Deportations: A Flight to Cameroon

In a covert operation, the Trump administration deported nine individuals to Cameroon, even though many had U.S. court protections preventing such actions, the New York Times revealed. None of the deportees were originally from Cameroon.

The deportation forced the detainees, unaware of their destination, onto a Department of Homeland Security flight from Alexandria, Louisiana. They were restrained in handcuffs and chains during the journey, raising questions about the legality and the human rights implications of the action.

Efforts to receive comments from the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, and Cameroon's Ministry of External Affairs went unanswered, while attorneys representing the detainees remained unreachable. The Trump administration has not disclosed any agreement with Cameroon to accept deportees from other countries.
