In a significant crackdown, Rajasthan Police have seized more than 6,000 kilograms of illegally grown opium plants, worth approximately Rs 2 crore, in the Karauli district. The raid, part of 'Operation Shikanja', a state-driven initiative against organized crime, led to the arrest of two individuals, Chourasingh Meena and Mankesh alias Pintu Meena.
The operation unfolded following a tip-off, with law enforcement officials discovering the opium cleverly camouflaged amid mustard crops in the Kailadevi police station jurisdiction. The illicit plants, totaling over 6,067 kg, were packed in 285 plastic sacks, highlighting the scale of the illegal cultivation.
Authorities are employing modern technology to maintain the operation's integrity by videographing the seizure with an e-evidence application. Meanwhile, efforts to trace the narcotics network's supply chain continue, as the police delve into possible connections extending from the region.
