Tragic Incident in Dumka: Arrest Made in Mother-Daughter Murder Case

In a chilling incident in Jharkhand's Dumka district, police have arrested a man accused of murdering a 35-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter following a foiled rape attempt, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
The tragic event occurred on Tuesday evening near Veer Kunwar Singh Chowk. The suspect allegedly led the victims to a vacant police officer's house, where he tried to assault the woman. When she resisted, she was beaten to death, and her daughter was strangled, according to SDPO Vijay Kumar Mahto.
The accused, a resident of Gando village, was apprehended on Friday. The bodies were discovered on Wednesday, along with Rs 5,000 reportedly taken from the woman's purse. An FIR has been filed and the accused has been placed in judicial custody, officials said.
