Gujarat's Digital-Driven Census: Paving the Way for Precision

The Gujarat government has laid out plans for its forthcoming census, which will transpire over two phases commencing in April 2026, with a focus on boosting accuracy and public participation through a digital self-enumeration initiative.

This first phase, called the House Listing Operation (HLO), will occur between April and September, collecting data on housing conditions and family assets. The subsequent Population Enumeration (PE) will follow in February 2027.

Officials urge thorough cooperation from residents, highlighting the census's pivotal role in policy and planning. Data gathered will remain confidential, aimed solely at statistical purposes per the Census Act 1948, underlining its significance in Gujarat's and India's development trajectory.
