In a significant legal development, a Kerala court has sentenced a 62-year-old man to six years of rigorous imprisonment for molesting a young student at a wedding hall nearly six years ago.
The verdict was delivered by Nadapuram Fast Track Special Court judge Devan K Menon, who also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused. The crime took place on April 17, 2019, at a wedding hall near Perambra.
The case came to public attention when the young victim courageously informed her school teacher about the incident, prompting the school headmaster to notify law enforcement. During the trial, the prosecution examined nine witnesses and presented 14 documents as evidence.
