In the ongoing legal proceedings related to the death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg, the Court of the District and Sessions Judge scrutinized documents submitted by the accused parties, Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddhartha Sharma, on Friday. After the session, Garima Garg, Zubeen's wife, addressed the media, disclosing that Siddhartha Sharma's discharge petition would be deliberated on February 16th, marking a pivotal date in the case's timeline.

Garima stated that crucial developments are expected during the proceedings on the set date. Advocate Apurba Sarma informed ANI that today focused on a hearing for Shyamkanu Mahanta's petition to unfreeze his bank accounts, with an order pending for February 16th. Siddhartha Sharma has also filed additional petitions for document access, opposed by the prosecution.

In a separate move, Zubeen Garg's family reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the establishment of a special court for a swift trial following Garg's untimely death in Singapore. Describing Zubeen as a significant cultural figure for Assam and the North-East, the family is pursuing answers concerning the circumstances of his tragic passing while urging for enhanced diplomatic-legal actions.
