EC Observers Poised to Ensure Transparent Polls in India

The Election Commission has taken proactive steps to guarantee free and fair elections in five states and territories, with its latest briefing of general, police, and expenditure observers. Roughly 1,444 officers have been called upon to serve as central observers with the essential responsibility of ensuring impartiality in the upcoming polls.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, emphasized the importance of these observers as the 'eyes and ears' of the commission. Kumar highlighted that their presence would invigorate the election process across 824 constituencies, while Sandhu urged them to be accessible and responsive to voter grievances.

Through comprehensive sessions, observers were guided on various initiatives, including IT applications, while being urged to familiarize themselves thoroughly with election laws. The commission's senior officials navigated observers on preparing electoral rolls, ensuring voter information slips are timely distributed, and maintaining impartial operations at polling stations.
