A local court has issued bailable warrants against five policemen for failing to appear as witnesses in a murder case dating back to 2021, a development confirmed by officials on Wednesday. Additional Sessions Judge Sunil Chauhan's decision came after the officials neglected to provide their testimonies.
The murder case involves a man named Annu, who was fatally shot near the Sheetla Mata temple on September 3, 2021. An FIR was filed against eight individuals, including Deepak, Deepak Lamba, Neeraj, Shivam, Tejpal, Dinesh Rathi, Abhishek, and Satpal, following a complaint by the victim's brother.
Summoned prosecution witnesses—Inspector Harendra Kumar, ASI Sashtra, Head Constable Praveen, Head Constable Vijay, and Constable Naveen—missed the court appearance. While warrants were issued for all, show-cause notices reached ASI Sashtra, Head Constable Vijay, Head Constable Praveen, and Constable Naveen. A senior officer reported that explanations have been requested from the officers, with the hearing set to resume on April 1.
