A heated controversy engulfed the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly as the Speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather, adjourned the House for 15 minutes following an uproar over remarks made about the existence of Pir Panjal.
The ruckus ignited after Congress legislator Iftikhar Ahmad demanded an apology from BJP leader Sunil Sharma for comments made during an interview, which allegedly dismissed Pir Panjal's existence. This demand was vigorously supported by other legislators, including independents and government ministers, and strongly opposed by BJP members.
Amid attempts to quell the chaos, many lawmakers moved towards the Well of the House, prompting the adjournment. Outside the Assembly, Congress MLA reiterated demands for an apology, underscoring that disrespecting Pir Panjal insults the martyrs who defended the region's borders.
