Dereliction of Duty: Dehradun Sub-Inspector Suspended

A sub-inspector in Dehradun was suspended on Tuesday for alleged negligence related to a brutal daylight murder in the Machhi Bazaar area. Pradyumna Negi, the Khurbura police post in-charge, has been relieved of his duties immediately.

The action was taken by Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh after a detailed report from the City Police Circle Officer. This move comes in the wake of the horrific murder of 22-year-old Gunjan Srivastava by Akash Kumar, who allegedly slit her throat with a sharp weapon on Monday.

Police reports reveal Gunjan had filed a harassment complaint against Akash two days prior to the murder. Although the police were attempting to locate him, Akash had evaded them by switching off his phone and disappearing. The attack has sparked serious concerns regarding the police department's response to Gunjan's complaint.
